I have 3 boys. Which means in a few years, I will have 3 teenage boys. Yes, I will probably be going crazy with grocery bills, testosterone, and dating. It is hard to picture my babies growing up but it is a reality that will happen faster than I want. I, as a parent, want to be sure that we give our children all the resources and teaching that we can to help them to become the men of God that they are called to be. A part of them growing up is talking with them about love, sex, and dating. Teenagers and young adults are going through such a different time with the world. I can only imagine how much more different it will be when my kids start dating. Now, I know that my oldest is only 9, but having age appropriate conversations about love and such is important to start now. When I was given the opportunity to read Andy Stanley's The New Rules for Love, Sex, & Dating I was excited to get this. I opened the package and began to start reading this book. While, I would not have my 9 year old read this book, I am learning so much and agree with what I am reading. We are in a time, where people are younger and younger when they first have sex. That thought sickens me. Teenagers having babies is normal now, and I do not want my children thinking that it's okay for that to happen. This book helps teach that your actions have consequences. Andy Stanley helps teach men and women to be "the person the person you are looking for is looking for." He helps you to not to look for the right person, but to be the right person. This book is great for a small group discussion. It includes study questions to help you think about each of the topics. This would be great for a high school youth group, a singles ministry and even married groups.
