I have always seen the FELS-NAPTHA bar in the laundry aisle but have never actually used it. Being a Purex Insider I was given the opportunity to finally get to try it out. When I received it, I noticed it had a good scent to it. Like a fresh, clean scent. I started researching ways to use it. You can use it as a stain remover by wetting the bar and rubbing it on the stain. You can use it as a booster by grating some into the load of wash. I decided to make my own detergent with it. I have always wanted to make my own detergent, so why wait? I had all the ingredients now.
For the recipe that I found and tried, I used:
- 1 bar of FELS-NAPTHA
- 1 cup of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
- 1 cup of Borax
- 1 cup of Purex Crystals
I used a knife and cut the bar of soap up into cubes. After that I put it in a blender to get it nice and fine. Then I added the rest of the ingredients to the blender and mixed it all together.
I had an empty Purex Crystal bottle that works perfectly as the container for the detergent. The top is also a great size to measure out the mixture. This detergent smells really good.
