Dogs will eat just about anything. That does not mean that they should though. My husband did a lot of research before we decided on what we were going to feed our dog. We wanted to make sure that there was quality ingredients in the food that he was going to be eating. I also did some research on Newman's Own Organics pet products before reaching out to them to do a review. I did not want to get a product just because. If I am going to review something for my dog I want to make sure it is something that is quality. When I received the box of dog goodies I was eager to open it up and see what I got. I received Adult Dry Fomula food, Peanut Butter Dog Treats, Chicken and Rice Snack Sticks, and a couple can foods for him to try out.
The Newman's Own Organics Adult Formula Dry Dog Food was an item I think my dog enjoyed. I love the fact the the first ingredient list is chicken. It isn't a by product but an actual meat. I think that is great. I fed this to Cosmo mixed in with his regular food. His digestive system stayed the same. He did not have any issues after eating this. His bowels remained the way they currently were. As for taste I am pretty sure that he loved it because his food was gone within a minute.
The next item he got to try was Premium Dog Treats Peanut Butter flavored. I love the small hearts. Each of my boys gave him one heart as a treat during the day. I like that it does not have an overwhelming dog treat smell. The size of the treats are great. He can have a treat and it not mess with his eating schedule. The Premium Dog Treats come in 5 different flavors: Peanut Butter, Chicken, Cheese, Turkey & Sweet Potato, and Salmon & Sweet Potato. I am sure my dog would love to try the other flavors. I'll have to be on the look out for those.
Another product was the Snack Sticks. He got to try the Chicken and Rice recipe. These sticks were the perfect size and texture to break up and use for some training. They also were great just for eating as they are. I like that the Snack Sticks come in a resealable bag so that they don't become stale or get bugs. These sticks come in 3 flavors: Chicken & Rice, Chicken & Sweet Potato, and Chicken & Vegetable.
The last item he tried was the Premium Canned Food. I gave Cosmo a can of the dog food as a mid-day meal. (He is still a growing puppy). This was the first time he has ever had any kind of wet food. He has been on a dry food regimen since he was born. At first glance he was just sniffing it to see what it was and then he figured it out and ate it pretty well. I have heard that canned food can give the dogs the runs but I didn't notice anything different in his bowels with this either. This is quality canned food that I have continued to give him on occasion.
Overall, I think we are please with the Newman's Own Organcis dog food. They also have cat food available too.
