New nap time trick

My kids really dislike when I tell them that it is nap time. They start yelling NO! And "I'm not tired" stuff like that. Usually I'm driving when it's nap time so they'd rather play and fight in the truck than take a nap. So I started doing something different and this whole week it has worked. Yay! I tell them that it's just rest time. I don't want them to go to sleep but I would like them to relax. I ask for there toys or whatever they might have in their hands and tell them to look out there windows and just rest. But I am sure to tell them they don't have to go to sleep. Within 5 minutes, they are usually out and it makes my afternoons a lot less stressful when they have there naps. Success!!

My kids love to color.  They are always asking to color and sometimes I might not have crayons or paper with me when they want to draw.  Well, the DoodleRoll has the solution to that problem.

A Perfect Pet for Peyton Review

I love reading books to my boys. I especially love reading books to them that will help them grow up to be the men of God that they are called to be. I am constantly looking for books that have value in them. Well, that book has found me. A Perfect Pet for Peyton by Gary Chapman and Rick Osborne is an amazing book to read to my kids. It is a book on learning what your love language is. I like how the book was geared for the kids to have the book read to them or if your child is a reader this is a good one for them to read themselves. On each of the pages that had little words was a tiny little insect that the kids had to find. My kids loved that part. This book is interactive, they have to find insects, on some pages they are asked to find certain animals so it really gets them into the book.   After I read this book to my kids, I found my 6 year old son reading it on his own.  My 4 and 3 year old boys were taking turns the other day looking for the insects and naming all the animals in this book.  I definately recommend this book.

Happy Birthday to Me

I cannot believe that I am officially 30!!  I am no longer in my 20's.  In one way, I feel kinda sick about it.  In another way I feel that I pretty much acheieved what I had wanted before I turned 30.  I wanted to be married.  I am.  I wanted to have all the kids that I could.  I have my 3 wounderful and fun boys.  I wanted to have a house.  We will be getting one next month.  I am super excited about how wonderful that my life is going.  I surely do hope that what everone says is true about your thirties being the best time of your life.  I am looking forward to all the great things that God has planned for me and my families lives.

EdenFantasys Review

I recently ordered a piece of lingerie from EdenFantasys.  It came literally two days later.  Talk about quick shipping.  I also appreciated the fact that it came in a plain box so that no one would know what it was inside.  I think that they definately have customers in mind when they do business.  EdenFantasys sells a lot of things ranging from makeup to candles to lingerie to adult toys.  I was excited to recieve the lingerie that I ordered.  I saw it online and I hoped that it would fit me and look decent on me.  I have a lot of baby weight that I try to hide because I am extremely self consious about it. So when I look for plus sized lingerie, I look for those that are not see through and I also look for ones that are a little on the longer side.  Let me tell you that it actually fits nicely and looks nice on me.  I actually felt confident and sexy wearing it and I wasn't embarrased to come out and show my husband.  The material of it is very smooth and soft.  I felt as if I was wearing a quality product compared to others that I have bought elsewhere.  The tag says to hand wash the lingerie and I accidently put it in the washer with all my other clothes and it held up just fine.  Though I am not gonna do that again because this is a nice piece of lingerie and I don't want to risk ruining it.  I cannot wait to order some more.  My husband sure does love the fact that I am getting to blog with EdenFantasys because of all the fun lingerie I get to buy.

The Best Meals Happen at Home. $25 publix GC giveaway ends 3/19

I do not know about you but there are days that I just do not feel like taking all the time that is needed to prepare and cook dinner.  Sometimes I feel like I am always in the kitchen. It would be so much easier to just stop somewhere and get some unhealthy fast food.  I recently found out about the Publix event called the Best Meals Happen at Home.  Basically, these are recipes that are super easy and time saving meals.  They take no more than 30 minutes to finish and it is so much better than fast food.  You can sign up online and get emails delivered to your inbox with a yummy recipe for you to try.  I am going to try the Spicy Skillet Chicken this week.  I cannot wait.

Ingredients:

1 to 2 tsp. chili powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1–1/4 lb)

1 tbsp. vegetable oil

1 can (15 oz.) Progresso

® black beans, drained, rinsed

1 can (11 oz.) Green Giant

® Mexicorn® whole kernel corn with

red and green peppers, undrained

1/3 cup Old El Paso

® Thick 'n Chunky salsa

2 cups hot cooked rice

Directions

In small bowl, mix chili powder, salt and pepper; sprinkle

evenly over both sides of chicken breasts.

In 10-inch nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add chicken;

cook 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until juice of chicken is clear

when center of thickest part is cut (170°F).

Stir in beans, corn and salsa. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat.

Cover and simmer 3 to 5 minutes or until vegetables are hot.

Serve with rice.

The WoodCarver Giveaway ends 3/16

 

I don't know about anyone else but I know that my husband and I are always looking for movies that bring value into our home for our kids.  It is hard to find movies that are not full of drugs, sex, violence, and horrible language.  As parents we have to know what we are feeding our kids spiritually and if we are feeding them movies with worldly content then I believe that is the values they will end up with.  My husband and I watch movies before we let our children watch them and we then discuss about the values and lessons that would be taught to our boys.  Then if there are some questionable things we can then tackle the issue after the movie and make it a teaching moment.  Recently I was able to review the new movie The WoodCarver.  This movie deals with the issues of a rebelous teen who comes from a broken home.  How many teenagers do we know that have a broken home?  How many of them need that mentor in their lives to help them along the path of life.  I encourage everyone to reach out to one teenager that you know and become there mentor.  Be there for them and encourage them.  In this movie the teen has to fix the damage alongside an older man who himself is withdrawn and the two of them help each other.  This is a movie I am comforatable letting me children watch because it teaches a life lesson.  This movie does not have any questionable material in it.  It is a movie that I will be letting my youth pastor borrow to show in the youth group. 

About the Movie:  Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home.  When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges.  While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration the Matthew destroyed.  Ernest has become somewhat of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church.  Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church's beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God in in life.

This is a great movie and I definately recommend everyone watch it.  You can buy The WoodCarver on dvd online.
